The Galsky Manor House

A stunning view of the Galsky Manor House, a noble estate situated on the banks of the Sheksna River, in the city of Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast. The 19th century manor house was constructed in the provincial classicism style.
The Soviet government nationalized this estate. In 1922. In 1952, a major overhaul of the manor house was carried out which resulted in the loss of many of the building’s historic elements.
After 1960 the manor house fell into a terrible state of neglect and disrepair. In 1989, a historical and ethnographic museum was opened here. It was not until 1992 that an extensive restoration plan was initiated, taking 17 years to complete.
The Galsky Manor House has now been restored to its former glory, a total of 25 rooms are today open to visitors.
