The beautiful Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Peterhof
It was built in the Russian Style during the reign of Nicholas II in 1895-1904. The cathedral was consecrated on 25th (O.S. 12th) June 1905, in the presence of the Imperial Family.
In 1938 the cathedral was closed by the Soviets. Like many other architectural monuments of Peterhof, the building was badly damaged during the Second World War. After the war, the building was used as a container warehouse.
The building was restored during the 1980s and 90s, it was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1989. The SS Peter and Paul Cathedral was consecrated on 9th July 1994, by Patriarch Alexei II (1929-2008).
