This simple, yet elegant portrait (1901) of Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna (1882-1960), hangs in the dining room of her former palace in St. Petersburg.
Olga and her first husband Duke Peter Alexandrovich of Oldenburg (1868-1924), settled into a 200-room palace (the former Baryatinsky mansion) at 46 Sergievskaya Street (today Tchaikovsky Street), in St Petersburg.
The palace was a wedding gift from her older brother Emperor Nicholas II. Today, it houses the Saint Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Many of the palace’s historic interiors have been preserved to the present day.
