Countess Anastasia Vasilyevna Hendrikova (1887-1918) with Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna, on the deck of the Imperial Yacht ‘Standart’. 1913
In 1910 Hendrikova was appointed maid of honour to the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. She became a beloved member of the Imperial Family’s inner circle, everyone affectionately called her «Nastenka».
In August 1917, she voluntarily followed the Imperial Family to Tobolsk. In May 1918, Countess Hendrikova travelled with the rest of the Tsar’s family to Ekaterinburg, but she was not allowed into the Ipatiev House, instead she was sent to Perm and imprisoned, where she was subsequently murdered by the Bolsheviks on 4th September (O.S. 22nd August) 1918.
