Отделанный плиткой камин на парадной лестнице особняка С. Полушина в Иваново. Точно такая же плитка — болотного цвета с ягодками — украшает парадный вестибюль особняка Бурылина (ныне музей ситца).
Ранее на площадке перед камином была плитка-октагон — собственно, она и сейчас там, но застелена линолеумом из-за того, что, по словам сотрудников Научной библиотеки (она сейчас занимает бывший особняк), пожилые читатели на ней поскальзывались🤷🏻♀️
На втором этаже сохранился ещё один камин, намного более сдержанный (фото 7). Вообще, в отличие от сверхпышной отделки «парадных» потолков первого этажа, на втором — где, вероятно, были жилые комнаты — лепнина более чем скромная.
А кто подскажет, как называются забранные решетками(?) отверстия по бокам камина (фото 5) и для чего они нужны?

A tiled fireplace on the front staircase of S. Polushin’s mansion in Ivanovo. Exactly the same tile — swamp-colored with berries — adorns the front lobby of Burylin’s mansion (now the chintz museum in Ivanovo).
Previously, there was an octagon tile on the floor in front of the fireplace — in fact, it is still there, but it is covered with linoleum due to the fact that, according to the employees of the Scientific Library (it now occupies a former mansion), older readers slipped on it🤷🏻♀️
On the second floor, another fireplace, much more restrained, has been preserved (photo 7). In general, in contrast to the super-luxurious decoration of the «ceremonial» ceilings on the first floor, on the second — where, probably, there were living rooms — the stucco molding is very modest.
Who will tell what for are the holes on the sides of the fireplace, with gratings (photo 5)?
