This beautiful 3-piece cutlery set made of gilding and silver belonged to Tsesarevich Grand Duke Alexander Nikolaevich, (future Emperor Alexander II), made in 1847-48 by the Nichols and Plinke Firm, St. Petersburg.
Each piece is artfully decorated with grape motifs, the Imperial double-headed eagle, and the chain of the Order of St. Andrew. The reverse side of bears the Cyrillic monogram «AH» Алекса́ндр Никола́евич [“AN” Alexander Nikolaevich in English], each is crowned with the Imperial Crown of Russia.
